Mold Removal and Clean up
SERVPRO of Bellingham was called out to remove mold in a garage on San Juan Island. Some of the keys to removing mold are containment, negative air pressure, air scrubbing and worker safety.
Once containment and negative air pressure is set up in the affected areas the must be workers are prepared to work quickly and safely.
We begin by pulling down the sheet rock. Then we place the pieces of removed sheet rock in plastic bags keeping the top of the back closed when not in use. The longer the moldy drywall is exposed, the more chance there is for mold spores to be released.
After removing all of the drywall, we remove the leftover nails and screws. For nails we use a claw hammer to pull them out. We use a Phillips bit in a battery drill to remove the screws.
Removing each bag of affected drywall and all of the fasteners we are now ready to treat the affected areas and begin the drying process.
